Elementary School

Through IL-Empower, Perry Elementary School will be implementing AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) beginning with the 2023-2024 school year. At the elementary level, all students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will receive purposeful instruction that supports organization, study skills, communication, and self-advocacy, and students will learn to take structured notes and answer/ask high-level questions. Strong emphasis will be placed on promoting a strong college-going culture.

Middle School

Middle school AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a program aimed at students in the academic middle who want to challenge themselves to succeed in more difficult coursework, with the eventual aim of college attendance and success. Students may enter AVID through a recruitment process beginning in sixth grade and may remain in the program through high school.

High School

High school AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a program aimed at students in the academic middle who want to challenge themselves to succeed in more difficult coursework with the eventual aim of college attendance and success. Students may enter AVID via a recruitment process through their sophomore year.
