Principal Nicholas Herrera
  • Dear Carpentersville Middle School Families,

I'm truly excited to serve as Principal of Carpentersville Middle School and to continue supporting our students, staff, and community. For the past four years, I've had the privilege of serving as the Associate Principal of Operations and as a Dean of Students for one year. In these roles, my focus has always been on creating the positive, supportive environment our students deserve and which leads to their success.

My journey in education began at Elmhurst University, where I studied Kinesiology and Health Education before teaching Physical Education and Health at Geneva and West Chicago High Schools. My passion for working closely with students led me to earn my LBS1 certification from St. Francis University and become a Special Education teacher at Plainfield South High School. Later, I pursued my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at North Central College, specializing in Cultural Development, which prepared me for my leadership roles here at CMS.

Throughout my time at CMS, I've prioritized building a community rooted in safety, belonging, and trust. Together, our students and staff collaborate daily to meet high academic standards and lay the foundation for becoming successful, productive citizens.

I can't wait to partner with all of you for another amazing year filled with growth, excitement, and success. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

    Here’s to a great year,

    Nick Herrera
