Principal Jason Lentz
  • Dear Algonquin Middle School Community,

I am very excited to serve as the principal at Algonquin Middle School. As a resident of Algonquin since 2007, I am honored to take on this leadership role in the community in which I live. AMS is an amazing place to be a student, family member, or a staff member and I look forward to carrying on our great traditions!

I earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I then attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where I earned a master’s degree in Social Work. I earned my administrative certificate from Aurora University. I am currently in my 24th year with District 300 beginning in 2001. I began my career at Perry Elementary where I was the social worker and then assistant principal for five years in each role. For seven years, I served as the principal at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School. This is now my seventh year as the principal at AMS.

I am a huge sports fan and cheer for all teams from Wisconsin. However, this should not be held against me!  Though I have lived in Illinois since 2001, I spent the prior 23 years living in Wisconsin. I enjoy running, biking, weight-lifting, basketball, volleyball, Spikeball, and golf most of all. If it involves physical activity, you can count me in. I am enthusiastic and will bring high-energy with me each day to school. I believe a foundation of respect allows a culture to exist where we work hard, play hard, and have fun along the way.  My step-daughter is an 8th grader at Dundee Middle School so I am fortunate to experience middle school from a parent and a principal perspective!

The top priority of a principal is to maintain the safety of the school building. I will work with staff to ensure we are making our school as safe as possible. I take my responsibilities as the academic, social/emotional, and behavioral leader of the building very seriously. I recently created a vision statement that guides who I am as a school leader; By first creating an environment where our students feel like they belong, our students will achieve academic and life success.

As the Principal of Algonquin Middle School, I look forward to getting to know you and your student(s). I am excited to develop a partnership with you as we move into another school year. Please know that you may contact me at any time.

Together we will make the 2024-2025 school year a success for all of our students!

    Respectfully,

    Jason Lentz
