Dear Sleepy Hollow Elementary School Community,
It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the principal of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School. As a former student of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School, I am honored to have been selected to return to the community. Your traditions are strong and your reputation is solid. I understand the privilege associated with serving your community and am prepared to deliver my very best to Sleepy Hollow.
My experience in District 300 began in 1999. At Westfield Community School, I taught language arts and social studies for the first seven years of my career. For twelve years, I served the Westfield community as an Assistant Principal. My beginning role as an administrator at Westfield Community School was to support the middle school side of the building. Later, I played an instrumental role in developing and supporting elementary programing. I was also responsible for managing building operations.
I value my educational experiences and strive to be a model of lifelong learning. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology from Illinois State University. I then attended Aurora University where I earned a Master of Science in Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction and an Educational Leadership Certificate. I earned a Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University, where my dissertation focused on gifted underachievement.
My goal as the instructional leader of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy, and safe so they can reach their full potential. We will strive to reach the District’s mission to ensure our students reach their unique and full potential as self-directed learners and responsible citizens. I also have a second goal to promote the simple enjoyments of living in Sleepy Hollow. Community is strong in Sleepy Hollow and through partnering with the Sleepy Hollow Police Department, Rutland Dundee Fire Department, and the Sleepy Hollow Service Club, I want the children of Sleepy Hollow to recognize the benefits of growing up in the Sleepy Hollow Community.
I believe that leadership must be shared and that no one person can provide excellence on their own. I need you to show me your traditions, your strengths and your needs. I promise you my honesty, my willingness to listen, and my tireless effort and support.
I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned back home with me to Sleepy Hollow Elementary School. I look forward to getting to know you and your children.
