Our Preschool Curriculum: Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum
Our district is proud to use the Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum in our preschool classrooms. This is a research-based program designed to support children’s learning through hands-on experiences, exploration, and play. It helps our youngest learners build important skills in a way that feels natural and fun for them.
What is the Creative Curriculum?
The Creative Curriculum focuses on teaching the “whole child.” This means that along with academic skills like early math, science, and literacy, the curriculum also helps children develop socially, emotionally, and physically. It’s designed for children ages 3 to 5 and encourages them to explore the world around them by asking questions, solving problems, and working together with their classmates.
How does the Creative Curriculum work?
The curriculum is based on studies or themes that children are naturally curious about, such as animals, buildings, or nature. Within these themes, teachers guide children through activities that help them build skills in areas like:
- Language and Literacy: Developing vocabulary, listening skills, and the foundations for reading.
-
Math: Learning about numbers, shapes, patterns, and measurements in fun, interactive ways.
-
Science and Technology: Exploring the world around them, asking questions, and discovering how things work.
-
Social-Emotional Development: Learning how to manage feelings, make friends, and solve problems together.
-
Physical Development: Building coordination and motor skills through active play.
Why is this curriculum important for your child?
The Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum is designed to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond by creating a strong foundation for lifelong learning. It helps children develop a love for learning and encourages them to think critically and creatively. The activities and lessons are designed to be engaging and enjoyable, so children feel excited to come to school every day.
How does it benefit your child?
-
Personalized Learning: Teachers adapt lessons to meet the needs and interests of each child, ensuring they grow at their own pace.
-
Learning through Play: Children learn best when they’re having fun, so the curriculum uses play as a way to teach important skills.
-
Strong Relationships: Teachers build warm, supportive relationships with students, helping them feel safe and confident in the classroom.
Our preschool program fosters a supportive learning environment, promoting children's social, emotional, and academic development.
