Preschool for All (PFA)

  • Taken from the program specifications of the Early Childhood Block Grant-Pre-K At-Risk Initiative:

"The pre-kindergarten at-risk initiative, also known as (PFA program) serves children who, because of their home and community environment, are subject to such language, economic and like disadvantages that they have been determined, through a screening process, to be at risk of academic failure."

Children are selected for our program through a screening process. We use a standardized screening instrument that measures each child's development, English proficiency, fine and gross motor skills, social skills, and cognitive development. Other factors such as family systems, and health risk factors may also be considered. The criteria used to determine elibilty for the at-risk (Preschool For All) program is the child's performance on the screening instrument.
