Dear DHES Families,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Dundee Highlands Elementary School! Each year I get more excited for the opportunity to lead a school with such rich traditions and strong community involvement. From many of the interactions that I have had with staff, students and parents over the last three years, it is clear there is a partnership between all stakeholders to provide the best possible academic experience for all of our Dundee Highlands’ students. I look forward to fostering these relationships and working with teachers and staff to provide a positive educational experience for each child.
As a school, we will continue to focus on Common Core skills across all content areas, consistent implementation of ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science curriculum, the use of digital learning tools, and the use of data to inform instruction. We are also excited to build on our STEM and Art program and to provide meaningful and challenging enrichment opportunities for all our students. As a school, we are looking forward to providing academic experiences for our students that are rigorous and relevant but also focusing on positive communication and relationships. As your child moves from kindergarten to fifth grade at DHES, he or she will be building an important foundation for his or her later years. Each new skill and experience builds on this foundation, so that by the time your child is graduating from high school he or she will be ready for college and career.
Another vital component to the success of DHES is communication. Through teacher Haiku pages, weekly wrap-up messages, monthly newsletters, the DHES Virtual Backpack, the DHES website and Friday Folders we strive to keep you informed. Staying active in your child's education will make a difference.
As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who walks into Dundee Highlands, teachers, students and parents, are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun and nurturing environment.
I am proud to be a part of the DHES family and share this upcoming school year with you and your child. Building a strong home-school partnership is important to me and vital to a child's successful educational journey. Please feel free to stop in, call or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet! Thank you for allowing us to nurture, encourage, and challenge your child as we begin the 2019-2020 school year!
