District 300 looks forward to celebrating our high school graduates on Saturday, May 21.

All graduation ceremonies will be held at NOW Arena (formerly Sears Centre) located at 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway, Hoffman Estates, 60192.

Tickets are not required to attend.

Many of our talented Fine Arts students will be performing through April. For those interested in attending an event, I have included performance information for the upcoming week below. In an attempt to eliminate potential confusion, I have only listed events where tickets may still be available as some performances are already at capacity. If you have any questions, please contact the appropriate school directly for more information.

• Jacobs High School will perform “Clue” on Saturday, April 23 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
  
  

• Dundee Middle School will present the musical “The Little Mermaid Jr.” at the Blizzard Theater at Elgin Community College on Saturday, April 23 at 7 p.m. For ticket information, call the Blizzard Theater Box Office at (847) 622-0300 or visit https://elgin.edu/arts-center/tickets.
  
  

• Algonquin Middle School will present “Matilda The Musical Jr.” at Carpentersville Middle School on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, April 28 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.

As a reminder, registration is now open for students returning to District 300 for the 2022-23 school year and must be completed online using PowerSchool Parent Portal. The deadline to complete registration for returning students is May 20, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.

District 300 congratulates all of the elementary students who were honored at the Student Leadership Breakfast!

On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to attend the D300 Foundation’s Distinguished Educator and Employee of the Year award ceremony, celebrating 2020 and 2022 nominees. I could not have been more proud of each nominee.

Distinguished Educator and Employee nominees were selected for displaying professional excellence, innovativeness, and dedication toward an enriched student learning experience.

I would like to congratulate the following winners:

• Congratulations to 2022 Educator or the Year winner Sarah Thomas, who is a Social Studies Teacher at Hampshire High School!

• Congratulations to 2022 Employee of the Year winner Nancy Whalen, who is a Paraeducator at Algonquin Middle School!

Algonquin Lakes Elementary School has started a One School, One Book campaign. Over the next few weeks, ALES families will be asked to read – The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. I would like to thank ALES Principal Chris Columbaro for organizing a campaign to engage the entire ALES community in supporting student literacy.

District 300 students earned impressive honors during the Fox Valley Conference Art Show reception hosted on April 14 at McHenry County College.
