Information Regarding Updated COVID-19 Guidance from ISBE

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On January 6, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control updated its guidance for Pre-K through 12 schools. Today, the Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois State Board of Education, and Kane County Health Department announced that the agencies would be adopting the CDC guidance for Pre-K through 12 schools that shorten the removal from in-person school periods from 10 days to 5 days.

District 300 has conducted a preliminary analysis of the guidance provided. We will continue to do so through the weekend to determine how it will impact our operations moving forward.

Staff and students that are currently isolated will be contacted as follows:

  • Students eligible for a shortened quarantine period will be contacted by the end of day Monday to determine how the new guidance impacts their current isolation. We will send a follow-up message with additional information if this schedule changes.
  • Staff eligible for a shortened quarantine period will be contacted this weekend to determine how the new guidance impacts their current isolation.

On Monday, I will send a message to all families explaining how the updated guidance will impact District 300 moving forward.

Additionally, I will send my regular weekly update message to all parents tomorrow evening, Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 7:30 p.m.

Sincerely,

Susan Harkin

Superintendent
