District 300 Celebrates Women’s History Month

District 300 is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month during March!

During March, District 300 will host four Women’s History Month Read Aloud Livestream Events where a District 300 staff member or a community member will read a book celebrating the achievements of women. All events are scheduled from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the District 300 YouTube Channel:

The live reading event schedule is as follows:

  • March 3: Lindsay Jonas (Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction) will read Mae Among the Stars by Roda Ahmed and Stasia Burrington.

  • March 10: Susan Harkin (Chief Operating Officer) will read Just Ask: Be Different, Be Brave, Be You by Sonia Sotomayor and Rafael Lopez.

  • March 17: Monica Boyer (Youth Service Manager for Fox River Valley Library) will read Alma and How She Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal.

  • March 24: Dana Garnett (Human Resources Specialist) will read Ruby Bridges Goes to School: My True Story by Ruby Bridges.

In alignment with International Women’s Day, District 300 invites families to participate in our Choose to Challenge activity. As part of this challenge, families are encouraged to take a selfie with a challenge card and post to social media using the hashtag #D300ChooseToChallenge. Sample cards can be accessed by clicking here. In addition, classrooms throughout the district will provide students with informative and engaging activities during the month.

District 300 looks forward to celebrating Women’s History Month with our community.
