District 300 Schools Will Be Closed on Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st

In keeping with our commitment to student and staff safety, District 300 schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st. On Wednesday and Thursday, all after-school practices, extra-curriculars, performances, and competitions are also cancelled. High School cheerleaders traveling to state will still leave as planned on Thursday.

Please note the following information regarding after school activities for today, January 29th:

  • At elementary schools: all after-school childcare will continue as scheduled.

  • All middle school after-school activities scheduled for today have been canceled.

  • All high school after-school activities scheduled for today must be concluded by 6 p.m. If this impact any games, your high school athletic department will be in contact with you.

The District 300 area weather report forecasts dangerously cold temperatures throughout Wednesday and Thursday, including the time period when students would be waiting at bus stops or walking to school. Almost 86% of District 300 students utilize our bus transportation service. As such, District 300 must recognize the potential hazards of exposing students to such conditions, which includes a significant risk of hypothermia, frostbite, or asthma complications.

District 300 acknowledges the inconvenience the decision to close schools may cause and we appreciate your understanding.
