SHES Summer Update July 22, 2020

Sleepy Hollow Elementary School Families,

We are gearing up for a great year at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School and we are so excited to open our doors to your children! We know that this school year will hold new challenges and practices. I am confident working collaboratively, your children will have a wonderful learning experience. The first day for students attending Sleepy Hollow Elementary School will be Thursday, August 13th. To best plan for your child’s educational experience and the school day at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School, we ask that any parent/guardian who prefers their child to learn remotely (i.e. at home) to complete the appropriate request form located at https://www.d300.org/BackToSchool by Friday, July 31.  Please send forms to the main office or email them to amy.muscat@d300.org.  On Friday, July 24, please look for a comprehensive email from us with more reopening information.

Community Unit School District 300 Calendar: Link to CUSD 300 Calendar-This calendar includes all district events including holidays (when District 300 buildings are closed), School Improvement Days when students are not present and Early Release Days. On District 300 Early Release Days students will be released at 11:45 AM to allow time for teacher professional development.

Registration Fees: If you have not paid your 2020-2021 registration fees yet, please pay by the first day of school.  The registration fee is $170 (includes registration and 1:1 technology fee). You can pay registration fees by setting up a Pushcoin Account. You can do this by clicking on the icon at  https://www.d300.org/parents. Contact the office with any questions regarding your current balance.

Breakfast/Lunch Accounts: Make sure that your child has money to start the 2020-21 school year if they would like to purchase meals beginning the first day of school. Aramark is a prepay program and money can be issued onto your child’s account the following ways: 1. Send cash or check. Checks should be written to CUSD 300. All payments should be placed into an envelope with your child’s full name, teacher, grade and amount enclosed. 2. Add funds on the web at www.mypaymentsplus.com. Create a My Payments Plus account to add money directly online or to manage your child’s balance. There is a small fee when adding money online. You can set up an account by clicking the icon at https://www.d300.org/parents

Cost of Breakfast and Lunch: Breakfast runs from 7:45-8:00 a.m. and costs $1.60. Students attend lunch with their grade level. The cost of lunch is $3.10. Milk is $0.55. Students may also bring their own lunch in a disposable or reusable bag.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications: Free and reduced lunch applications are available on the district website. Don’t forget, you must re-apply every year!

Nurse’s Office: All mandated health exams and vaccines must be completed and on file in our nurse’s office BEFORE September 15. Kindergarten students are required to have a current physical examination completed on the approved Illinois Department of Public Health Form. Your child can have medication administered by the school nurse once an Authorization for the Administration of Medication at School is completed by a physician. A child cannot bring any medication to school, including over the counter medication, without the form on file. 

Circle of Friends Aftercare (Dundee Township Park District): Please contact the Dundee Township Park District if you are considering enrolling your child in Circle of Friends Aftercare. If your child attends the Circle of Friends Aftercare Program and there is a change in your child’s after school schedule, notify the Dundee Township Park District and the school office.
