    District 300’s central mission is to provide engaging and inclusive educational experiences that empower and equip all students to discover, innovate, and succeed now and in the future. 

    About District 300

    District 300 is the 6th largest school district in Illinois based on student enrollment, proudly serving approximately 21,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade, within our 28 schools.

    Our school district covers 118 square miles, approximately 45 miles northwest of Chicago. District 300 is based in Kane County and reaches into Cook, DeKalb, and McHenry counties. District 300 includes all or part of 15 municipalities, which are: Algonquin, Barrington Hills, Carpentersville, Cary, East Dundee, Elgin, Fox River Grove, Gilberts, Hampshire, Hoffman Estates, Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Pingree Grove, Sleepy Hollow and West Dundee.

    Awards and Recognitions:

    • District 300 has been named one of Niche's Best School Districts in Illinois for 2023.

    • All District 300 preschool sites have earned the ExceleRate Illinois Gold Circle of Quality Award.

    • District 300’s Financial Reporting has earned the Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award from the Association of School Business Officials and the Government Finance Officers Union, the Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials International, and Financial Recognition from the Illinois State Board of Education, which is the highest possible rating for school districts in the state of Illinois.

    • Eastview Elementary School has been named a U.S. Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education 

    • Algonquin Lakes Elementary School, Eastview Elementary School, and Neubert Elementary School have been named "Best Public Schools" in the northwest suburbs by Chicago Magazine 

    • Dundee-Crown High School, Hampshire High School, and Jacobs High School have been named "Best High Schools in the Nation" by U.S. News and World Reports.

    Marquee Academic Programming and Supports:

    • District 300 launched the Accelerate College Program, allowing students to earn their high school diplomas and college degrees simultaneously and tuition-free.

    • District 300 has successfully implemented one of the largest 1:1 Programs in the state, rolling out approximately 21,000 Chromebooks for students entering grades 1st through 12th.

    • Through the Dual Credit Program, District 300 offers our high school students opportunities to earn tuition-free college credit through Elgin Community College. Students can earn high school and college credit, simultaneously, through our Dual Credit programs.

    • District 300 offers the Dual Language Program at Golfview Elementary School, Lakewood Elementary School, Liberty Elementary School, Meadowdale Elementary School, Parkview Elementary School, and Perry Elementary School. The Dual Language Program offers more students access to a researched-based, two-way language initiative designed to develop a high level of achievement in listening, speaking, reading, and writing with two languages.

    • District 300 has expanded tuition-free full-day kindergarten to all elementary schools, providing our youngest children with additional reading, literacy, and math instruction.

    • Each District 300 high school offers Pathways Programs in different career fields, offering students opportunities to earn internships with local businesses and dual credit course offerings through Elgin Community College.

    • District 300 has added STEM Labs in all of our elementary buildings, providing students with increased exposure to interactive science, technology, engineering, and math labs.

    • Carpentersville Middle School's Katherine White-Seydel won the 2019 Kane County Middle School Teacher of the Year Award

    • District 300 Superintendent Fred Heid won the 2018 Kane County Administrator of the Year Award.

    • Dundee Middle School’s Beth Harner won the 2018 Kane County Middle School Teacher of the Year Award.

    • Carpentersville Middle School’s Amy O’Herron won the 2017 Kane County Middle School Teacher of the Year Award.

    • Lakewood Elementary School’s Linda Kleiner won the 2016 Kane County Middle School Teacher of the Year Award.

    • Westfield Community School’s Sherry Douglas won the 2015 Kane County Educator of the Year Award.

    Since 2015, District 300 students have earned a total of $119.6 million dollars in college scholarships.
