Upward Bound

  • Upward Bound at Elgin Community College is a preparation program that helps high school students develop the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to enroll in their desired college and successfully earn a degree.

Dundee-Crown High School students who meet specific income criteria are eligible for Upward Bound, as are DCHS students aiming to be the first in their family to graduate from a four-year college or university in the U.S.

“Upward Bound covers the cost of program services, including tutoring, field trips, and college courses,” states the ECC website, which also notes that Upward Bound students typically earn higher grades and test scores, and are more likely to enroll in – and graduate from – college.
