District 300 Seeks Applicants for Community Leadership Academy

    • Parents and Guardians,

In District 300’s continued effort to engage our families and community, I invite you to apply for District 300’s Community Leadership Academy.

District 300’s Community Leadership Academy provides stakeholders an opportunity to learn more about our district’s operations, policies, initiatives, and Board of Education functions. Participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback on existing policies and those under review. While not a decision-making body, the Community Leadership Academy’s feedback will factor into our district’s final determinations and recommendations to the Board of Education.

The Community Leadership Academy will meet six to eight times during the 2019-2020 academic year. Meetings will include an opportunity for district departments to provide an overview of their respective areas and for our district team to gather information regarding new initiatives or ideas. This hands-on, practical approach will help participants become better informed about the decisions made in our district and will offer an opportunity to provide critical feedback that will help shape programs and initiatives that lead our district toward accomplishing our central mission: to ensure all students are college or career ready upon graduation.

To help ensure equity in both opportunity and voice, the Community Leadership Academy will use an application process to select members. To better facilitate a meaningful dialogue, we are seeking two participants from each school. However, Westfield Community School will be allowed four participants due to their unique K-8 configuration. Once the base group has been established, we will then work to expand participation.

DEADLINE: Completed applications must be received by November 1st, 2019
