Welcome to our classroom web page.  My name is Scott McGaughey, and I have the best job in the world.  I get to be a fifth grade teacher, which permits me to spend my day with a bunch of ten year-old kids.  If you are a student of mine, I hope you and your parents bookmark this site and refer to it regularly.  I plan to make it a useful and interesting place to go.

      I love teaching fifth grade.  Kids are growing by leaps and bounds in every conceivable way, and it's exciting to be part of it all.  Their awareness of the world they are growing into is expanding, and they are beginning to imagine their own futures in it.  Though it is getting harder and harder to get back up, I still get down on the floor with them to play and learn.  I look forward to each and every year.

Though I am two score and sixteen years old, I still am young enough that I can get up off the floor by my own devices.
