Lessons

Each student will be given one 30-minute small group lesson per week. Each of these lessons are very important in order for your child to progress. They will be taken out of class for this lesson during a time I will arrange with their classroom teacher. Each band student has been given a copy of the lesson schedule that should be kept in a secure place so they can refer to it when needed. It is ultimately the student's responsibility to make sure he/she arrives to his/her lesson on the correct day and time.

If a student has forgotten his/her instrument on a lesson day, he/she must still come to the lesson. Often times, I will send the student back to class after telling them what to be working on for the current week. But the child will be considered unexcused if he/she is in school, but does not show up at all for the lesson or rehearsal. If a student must miss his/her lesson, they should make arrangements with me to have their lesson time switched.

Full Band Rehearsals

Band rehearsals will begin during the week of November 5th. Rehearsals will also be held once per week for 30 minutes. Each student will be expected to have their instrument, music and a pencil with them at rehearsal. If a student has forgotten to bring his/her instrument to school on a rehearsal day, they are still expected to be at the rehearsal. If a student is at school but not at band rehearsal, their absence is considered unexcused. Every time a student is absent from a rehearsal, he or she has missed important musical concepts related to the music to be prepared.
