About Me:
I have been teaching in District 300 for 6 years. I began my career at Hampshire Elementary School and am currently working at Algonquin Lakes Elementary School. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach 2nd grade for all 6 years. I attended Eastern Illinois University for my undergraduate degree and earned my master's degree from Northern Illinois University. Teaching is a passion of mine because I enjoy the challenge of helping each child in my class succeed.
Another passion I have is running. I have completed 5 marathons and will run my 6th this October in Chicago. The marathon requires determination to complete and that determination has translated to the attitude I bring to teaching. I also think that my race experience offers valuable lesson opportunities for my students.

About Our Class:
Teamwork is a major theme in my classroom from the Cubs chair that I read from to the baseball mitt we collect compliments in. The theme of our classroom permeates the way we treat each other as well as expectations for performance. We learn to support each other through celebrating accomplishments and we work together to solve problems. We also learn to recognize the importance of practice. I would never run a marathon without practicing running just as Jonathon Toews would not score as many goals without practice. Reading, writing, and math require the same determination and commitment.
