Welcome to Dr. Brandstedt's Literacy Page!

I believe that teaching reading and writing is rocket science. There is always something new to learn and I enjoy getting to know each child as an individual reader and writer. I feel fortunate to be a part of the Algonquin Lakes community.

Here is a little bit about myself. This is my 18th year in District 300 and my 7th year as literacy teacher. I previously taught 4th and 5th grade and have worked as an administrator in the district. I recently completed my certification as a reading specialist.

Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family. I am married with two young children ages 6 and 4. They continue to amaze me each and every day! I enjoy cooking, reading (of course), shopping, and photography.
