Our 4th grade Chorus is up and running! I'm so excited about this year's group of singers!
For clarification, ALL 4th grade students learn recorder in Music class--even Chorus kids. The students selected for Chorus have an additional responsibility on top of regular Music class.
When do we practice and perform?
Chorus meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:50-10:10 (morning recess).
They'll perform on the TV News every month or so, and at school sing-alongs, or flag ceremonies.
Monday, May 16th is the 4th grade concert. All 4th graders play recorders for our concert, and Chorus members have double-duty...They'll sing 4 or 5 songs at the concert as well. (Chorus shirts need not be worn for the April concert.)
Chorus attendance is crucial to learning songs in a timely manner. Each Chorus member is allowed 3 absences per trimester. An absence counts as anyone who IS present at school but stays in for recess to finish morning work or other reasons.
Chorus T-shirts have been ordered and have arrived at no cost to you! (Thanks, Mrs. Ryan!) T-shirts may be worn anytime, however they are to be worn especially on performance days. i.e. ALES TV news announcements, holiday sing-along, our field trip, etc.
Chorus will take a fieldtrip in May (date to be determined) to Eastgate Manor and Dundee Township Senior Center. We'll sing about 10 songs at those locations. It's an awesome opportunity for these kids to share their talents with the community. We'll also stop for lunch on our trip. More info will be available in the Spring.
