Your child's States/Caps Social Studies test is October 12th. As discussed at Open House, this test will be given for each of the U.S. regions. The study guide that your child filled out the first weeks of school is what they should have been studying. When the date of the test was announced, several students admitted they had not saved this map study guide and asked for new ones. Those students will really have to catch up and study alot before next week's test. Happily, most of the students have all of this down pat and are ready to show off on the day of the test.
Students took their Weather assessment in Science and will be starting the new unit on natural disasters. They also continue to work on their Regions Binder in Computer Lab. I remind the students often that if they're behind in their binder that they may use Guided Reading time to catch up, or take their binder home and work on it there. We'll be giving the timed basic Math skills test again in just before our semester ends. Two students have already received a "4" on all of their assessments, which is quite an accomplishment. Hopefully, all students have been practicing these at home and will be able to pass the tests before the semester ends.
A reminder will be coming home about the time of your Parent/Teacher conference in November. Most of you signed up for a time of your choice. Those of you who did not sign up will be assigned a time. I look forward to seeing you all again to discuss your child's progress!
Continued thanks for all of the parent support that is given to your children!
