MEET MRS. TROY

I love teaching music to children!!  I love watching them learn that they are capable of new things, and seeing them discover new talents and abilities.  Our theme this year comes from the great inventor of the Muppets, Jim Henson! "Music is an essential part of everything we do.  Like puppetry, music has an abstract quality which speaks to a worldwide audience in a wonderful way that nourishes the soul."  Throughout our academic year, we will discuss what this means to each of us in our lives.  Music stimulates our minds and bodies in a way like no other discipline.  I look forward to the journey that lies ahead with our students.

The Troy Family had a great summer this year.  We completed many house projects, enjoyed many day trips and a vacation to Washington D.C. in early July.  We watched the fireworks from the lawn of the Washington Monument.  One of the personal highlights for me was spending time in the Library of Congress examing the original manuscript of Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man.  This is one of my favorite pieces of music and it was simply amazing to spend a little time inside the mind of this great American composer.

I am currently in the second year of completing my second masters degree, this one in administration.  My hope is to one day be an instructional leader of a school community.  I am grateful to Mr. Lentz for supporting me in this process!

If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me at the school.  I look forward to the journey with your child in the coming year through music!
