Hi! My name is Mrs. Martinez. I'm the ESL teacher at GDW Elementary School. I've been working as a teacher for District 300 for 9 years. Prior to that, I taught at East Aurora School District 131 for 9 years. I've been a kindergarten and first and second grade bilingual teacher. Here at GDW I teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to kindergarten to 5th grade. I enjoy teaching ESL because I know what learning a second language is like. I am an ESL learner myself.

I was born and raised in Mexico. I received my first bachellor's degree from Universidad Michoacana. My degree was in Universal History. Later on, I had the privilege to earn a bachellor's degree in elementary teaching from Northern Illinois University. A year after I was awarded a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University and both ESL and Bilingual Endorsements. Two years ago I finished my requirements for a Doctor in Education Degree, Ed. D.

I have two children, a 22 year-old girl and a 21 year-old boy. I enjoy yoga, cooking, music, and having friends.
