A Component of the EBD/PBIS Network

PBIS is a systems approach to preventing and responding to classroom and school discipline problems. PBIS develops school-wide systems that support staff to teach and promote, appropriate behavior in all students. By reducing behavioral problems, PBIS creates and maintains safe learning environments where teachers can teach and students can learn. Lakewood has the P.A.L.S. program which stands for Respect Property, Respect All others, Respect Learning, and Respect Self. Every six weeks Lakewood consentrates on a different location in the school. These areas include the cafeteria, classroom, bus, bathrooms, stairs/hallways, and all settings. At the end of each of the six weeeks, Lakewood rewards the students with an incentive. Those incentives include: movies in the gym, big ball in the gym,exploritory Activities,dodgeball in the gym, movie in the classroom, and Lakewood ends the year with a big "Taste of Lakewood/Walk-a-thon". PBIS is a very important part of the Lakewood school.
