Emergency InformationThe safety of the school environment for the children of District 300 is a top priority. Emergency incident management procedures are in place in our schools and communities. In the event of an emergency involving schools, school officials will take the necessary precautions, and work cooperatively with the police, fire and village officials. Updated information about significant incidents involving schools will be communicated to parents in a coordinated effort with those officials. The District will strive to disseminate emergency information through school phone trees, the District recording (847-426-1300, ext.300) and the D300 website, as well as the major Chicago radio and television stations. But, because each emergency situation is different, communication systems will have to be adjusted to the specific situation.
School ClosingsSchools will be in session according to the district calendar unless there is an emergency or severe weather condition. The school district has the serious responsibility of deciding whether to close schools. Emergency closing decisions are made by the Superintendent or designee and will be announced by local radio and television stations. Parents may also check the D300 website or D300 recording.
Early DismissalThe possibility exists that due to severe weather conditions or an unforeseen circumstance school closes or dismisses early. If the possibility exists that a parent or older sibling will not be home, we encourage parents to designate an alternate destination for their children if school dismisses early.

Phone Information RecordingDistrict 300 has an automated phone system. Residents may call the Administration Center at (847-426-1300) after 6:00 a.m. to hear a recorded message. If schools are closed, an automated message will say the specific day and date the buildings are closed. Students and parents may assume all schools are open unless the message specifically lists the day and date the schools are closed. In the event of an emergency situation, the message will give a very brief summary of the situation. If schools are closed, you may also assume that all after school or night activities for the elementary, middle and high schools are cancelled, except for high school inter-scholastic sport activities. Please call the high school athletic offices later in the day to check on the status of these events.
Transportation Schedules
Transportation schedules may vary when adverse weather conditions prevail. Parents/Guardians are asked to inform their children where they should go when weather conditions demand early dismissal. Parents/Guardians should complete the school's emergency dismissal instructions form so the school is aware of parent instructions for their child.
