Board Secretary Algonquin Township
A District 300 resident for more than 30 years, Ms. Miller is the most veteran member of the current board and has served as secretary since 1999. She is vice president, senior consultant for Epiq Bankruptcy Advisory Services. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Juris Doctorate degree from DePaul University. Of her three children, two are District 300 graduates, including a graduate of UIC and the other a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her youngest child attends Dundee-Crown High School. Ms. Miller serves on the Board of Directors for Hospice Northeastern Illinois and on the Advisory Board for the Central States region for the American Bankruptcy Institute. She is Regional Co-chair of the National Endowment Board of the American Bankruptcy Institute. Her District 300 volunteer positions have included: chair of the Rezoning Committee, member of Consortium for Educational Change, improvement teams for Eastview Elementary School (16 continuous years) and Algonquin Middle School, and PTO co-president. Her community involvement has included: committee chair for Cub Scout Pack 151; committee chair for Boy Scout Troop 151; chair for Cub Scout activities for the Kishwaukee District; religious education teacher St. Margaret Mary (Recipient of Bishop O'Niel Catechist of the Year Award); coach of T-Ball and soccer; and co-chair of the children's committee for Angel Towne. |
Algonquin Township
After a 20-year career as a Medical Technologist, Mrs. Warren has begun a new profession in education as a middle school science teacher. She received her BS in Laboratory Technology from the University of Oklahoma, and her master's degree in Secondary Education from Benedictine University. Her decision to enter the teaching profession came as a result of eight years of training and experience with the District 300 School Improvement Process. As part of SIP, she has served on three site plan teams including four years as a parent facilitator. She also served on numerous design teams studying gifted education, block scheduling, math and music. Her community involvement includes Citizens Organized for Responsible Education, SchoolsNow, League of Women Voters, and Boy Scouts as a committee member and Merit Badge Counselor. Mrs. Warren has resided in Algonquin since 1991 with her husband and two sons. She was first elected to the Board of Education in 2001. |
Board Vice President Dundee Township
Karen Roeckner is the manager of computer training and electronic health records training at Loyola University Health System. Karen has over 20 years of experience in the education and training field, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business education and a Masters degree in secondary education. Married with two children, Greg and Alyssa, Karen resides in Carpentersville. Karen has been part of many District 300 committees over the years, including FACE, TRAC, SIP, Connect 300, and Community Building Committee. Karen has also been involved in committees and served on PTO boards at Westfield, Liberty and Dundee Middle School. Karen's community involvement includes: CORE4Kids, SchoolsNow, and the League of Women Voters. She served as a Carpentersville Village Trustee from 2001 to 2005. |
Board President Dundee Township
Joe Stevens is a resident of Dundee Township and a retired Sherman Health executive. He has been happily married for 37 years to Trish and has three adult children, one of whom graduated from a District 300 high school. Joe earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. He serves as the board chairman of the Greater Elgin Family Care Center, a primary care medical facility dedicated to supporting the underserved, and he also serves on the board of the Family Service and Community Mental Health Center in McHenry. Joe has served as president of the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Rotary club two different times and is currently the immediate past president. |
Algonquin Township
John Ryan and his wife, Christine, were married in 1988 and have three children. John received a Bachelor’s degree in 1985 from Eureka College, where he majored in psychology. He is employed as the metro municipal sales manager for USA BlueBook, headquartered in Waukegan, where his responsibilities include providing treatment solution recommendations for the water and wastewater industries within the Chicago/Milwaukee corridor. He participated in Motorola’s Green Belt program and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt from Motorola University. While new to District 300 committees and groups, John’s volunteer work has included the Algonquin Area Youth Organization and serving as president of the Eureka College Alumni Association. Additionally, the Ryans were a host family with the Irish Children’s Fund. John has been an Algonquin precinct committeeman and was active in local, state, and national political campaigns including those for Dan Rutherford, David McSweeney, Andrew McKenna Jr., Pam Althoff, and Mike Tryon. |
Rutland Township
Chris Stanton has an extensive background in business and now works as an independent consultant, specializing in information technology and management engagements. For more than two decades, he held a senior management position in information technology and was a member of a corporate board of directors. Chris and his wife of 23 years, Jeannie, have lived in the Hampshire area since 1991 with their three sons. Their youngest attends Hampshire High School, their middle son will begin at Drake University in fall 2007, and their eldest – who is also a Hampshire High alum – graduated from Eckerd College after studying biology and chemistry. Chris went to public schools throughout his education, including his attendance of Central Ohio Technical College and Ohio State University, where he studied accounting and operations management. Over the years, he has volunteered with several District 300 groups including Connect 300 and the school Board’s Construction & Facility Oversight Committee. |
Hampshire Township
Monica Clark has lived in Hampshire since 1995 with her husband, Tim. They were married in 1986 and have two children, Ann and Timothy, who attend District 300 schools. She is a licensed insurance professional with State Farm Insurance and is the owner and operator of Monica Clark Insurance Agency in Hampshire. While new to district-wide groups and committees in District 300, Monica has donated her knowledge and time through a reading initiative at Hampshire Elementary School and by teaching a segment on insurance to Hampshire High School business classes. Monica’s agency is part of the Hampshire Area Chamber of Commerce, in which she has held leadership roles. In addition, Monica is the current secretary and treasurer, as well as president-elect, of the Elgin chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. |
