Parents play a crucial role in giving children the foundation needed to succeed in school and beyond. When a child receives a quality education in the preschool / kindergarten timeframe, his or her chance is greatly increased for future educational achievement and a successful adulthood. High-quality early childhood programs can predict academic success, adjustment to school, and reduce behavioral problems for children in first grade.
District 300 offers preschool programming at six schools. For more information, or for screening services, please contact the deLacey Family Education Center, at (847) 426-1450. The deLacey Family Education Center, located near the D300 headquarters in Carpentersville, is a preschool-only facility, with open enrollment to special needs and at-risk preschool children from across D300;
In addition to deLacey, D300 offers preschool programs at five other schools. Gary D. Wright Elementary in Hampshire and Gilberts Elementary in Gilberts accept preschool students by application through three avenues: special education needs, the Preschool for All state program, and tuition-paying families. Golfview, Perry and Meadowdale elementary schools (all in Carpentersville) take preschool students based on the financial needs of interested families.
