Congratulations to Brian Anderson, an 8th grader at Dundee Middle School who won the Kane County Spelling Bee yesterday (March 9) and earned an all-expense paid trip to the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Brian, age 13, has been participating in spelling bees since he was in 3rd grade at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School, according to his mother Paula Andersen. He took 2nd place in the county bee last year, and this year he won after an impressive and intense 24 rounds with the word "festooned." District 300 wishes Brian the best at the National Bee, June 2-4, 2010. He will be honored by the D300 School Board later this spring.
