Carpentersville Middle School
Principal Stephanie Ramstad

Spring 2013

Hail CMS
We are proud to be the cougars, mighty strong, fierce and so brave
Many teachers guide our learning to help us in our later days
History, writing and math are taught to us at high standards
All the time we're raising the bar making us always move forwards
Hail CMS Hail CMS students feel love for this school
Hail CMS Hail CMS learning here is super cool
All of the clubs, make our years great, and they help us make new friends
There's only one thing we all hate and that's when school ends.
Go Cougars!

The building located at 100 Cleveland Avenue in Carpentersville, Illinois currently known as Carpentersville Middle School (CMS) was once Dundee Community High School until 1983.

Originally, Carpentersville Middle School housed 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and hosted approximately 1,100 students per year. Since the 2002-2003 school year Carpentersville Middle School houses only 7th and 8th graders and hosts approximately 700 students per year.

Carpentersville Middle School students undertake the comprehensive education necessary to developing life long learners and responsible, confident, and productive citizens. With small class sizes and a wide variety of subject areas to explore, Carpentersville Middle School provides an environment that nurtures the intellectual, social, and emotional development of students. Energetic faculty members are specialists in their fields, engaging students with a variety of creative lessons and focusing on the individual development of each student. Sources of school pride include a Walmart Teacher of the Year, NSTA Academy Fellow, and numerous National Board Certified teachers.

Long standing traditions include a well recognized drama program. Students perform as well as design scenery, costumes, and props and may assist with choreography and lighting. Some years, a musical production is chosen; other years a drama is presented. Either way, it is always an exciting event, showcasing our students at their creative best!

Community service involvement has also played a key role in our middle school experience. Whether collecting pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House, singing at the Senior Center, or mentoring pre school students at deLacey, students learn the importance of helping others while developing a sense of responsibility and compassion. In addition, students have gained strong leadership skills through the Student Council, Beta, and Challenge Leadership Clubs. Direct leadership training and learning situations have invited and promoted the belief that students can make a positive difference in their school and in their individual lives!

In the effort to boost student academic achievement and the success of its students, Carpentersville Middle School restructured in the 2005-2006 school year. As a result, remarkable improvements in students' literacy and mathematics achievement have increased. CMS received Illinois State Board Academic Achievement awards in the 2005-2006, 2006-2007, and 2007-2008 school years celebrate our capability to achieve lasting improvement in achievement performance.

Home of the Cougars, Carpentersville Middle School's pride lifts morale and makes our building a more spirited and enjoyable environment in which to learn.
