Dundee Highlands Elementary School serves kindergarten through fifth grade students and their families. Located in the quaint and historical Dundee Highlands neighborhood of West Dundee, Dundee Highlands Elementary School is a true "community-based" school. The present school building located on South Fifth Street in West Dundee was built in 1964 on a six-acre site contributed to Community Unit School District 300 by Samual B. Iseberg and Jerrol Iseberg, original owners of the Dundee Highlands Development Corporation.

Third through sixth grade students from the original Dundee Elementary School, then situated at Kane and Sixth Streets in West Dundee, began occupying Dundee Highlands School in the fall of 1964 and were joined by kindergarten through second grade students in the middle of that school year.

Dundee Highlands Elementary School is rich in tradition. Highlighting these traditions is the "ringing" of the school bell housed in a bell tower on the front lawn of Dundee Highlands School. The bell was relocated from the original Dundee Elementary School. The ringing of the bell signifies the official beginning and closing of each school year as well as honoring former students and friends of the school. The school motto, "Education Rings at Dundee Highlands", is derived from the significance the bell holds for our school.

Dundee Highlands Elementary School embraces many exciting and time-honored traditions. Several of these traditions and outreach programs include the "Fun Run", collections for a variety of community-based agencies, participation in Dickens in Dundee activities, Fall Festival, Literacy Night, Santa's Workshop, Carnival, and numerous other activities sponsored by our active Dundee Highlands Student Council and the Parent-Teacher Council of our school.

Dundee Highlands Elementary School and community share a deep commitment to the strength, vitality, and vision of our school. All members of our community are dedicated to the positive development of our students academically, emotionally, socially, and physically. Working together, Dundee Highlands faculty, staff, and community continually strive to engage and motivate students to set far-reaching, achievable goals allowing students to realize their utmost potential and growth.

The dedication statement from the May, 1964 Open House of Dundee Highlands Elementary School read as follows:

"In an age when education provides the firmest base for individual development, national security, and human progress, the Board of Education respectfully dedicates this building to the advancement of youth, the preservation of the democratic way of life, and the betterment of mankind."

...These words continue to hold true today.
