Gilberts Elementary
Principal Craig Zieleniewski

Spring 2013

Mission Statement:
Gilberts Elementary School is dedicated to helping students maximize their full potential through problem solving skills, while maintaining their individual diversity. Gilberts Elementary School creates a safe and caring environment with great communication, respect, and responsibility while laying the foundation for life-long learning.

Gilberts Elementary School is one of the newest additions to the Community District 300 family. Built in 2007, it is a state of the art elementary school partially funded by the successful district referendum. It is the crowning glory of Gilberts, whose residents look upon it as the center of their rapidly expanding community.

Gilberts takes pride in its staff which is composed of at least 1 staff member from each and every one of the 13 elementary schools in the district, giving Gilberts Elementary the opportunity to combine staff strengths to meet the diverse needs of the students. The Gilberts Elementary staff strives to use best practices in the classroom and is continually looking for professional development opportunities to grow as individuals and as a team.

Although Gilberts Elementary school students come from a variety of backgrounds, the students are unified under the school wide expectation: Gilberts Grizzlies Go For the GOLD. Gold stands for Giving Respect, Only be Fair, Live Responsibly, and Definitely Caring. The school serves preschool through fifth grade students from the villages of Gilberts, Huntley, Hampshire, Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, and West Dundee.

Gilberts Elementary has an active Parent Teacher Organization and boasts 100% parental involvement in its first 2 years of existence. Parental support is an integral part of the culture of the school. Ranging from volunteer work, classroom assistance and fundraising, the parents of Gilberts Elementary School are paramount in its success. In its first year of operation, Gilberts Elementary Staff and PTO were honored with the INSPRA (Illinois Chapter/National School Public Relations Association) 2008 Distinguished Service Award of Merit for Teamwork.

Gilberts Elementary school prides itself in being a friendly, family oriented environment where all students can learn and parents are always welcome
