Special Education Day - Thank You Education Services Team

Special Education Day - Thank You Education Services Team:

Saturday, December 2 marks the 42nd anniversary of our nation’s first federal Special Education Law, the Education for All Handicapped Children Act (now known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), which President Gerald Ford signed in 1975.

December 2 marks Special Education Day and I would like to offer my thanks to our dedicated Education Services team.

District 300 is committed to providing an education system where each child has an opportunity and the appropriate supports to fulfill our central mission: to ensure all students are college or career ready upon graduation. Our Education Service staff work tirelessly with each student to ensure they reach their fullest potential. They implement supports, interventions, and instructional practices to personalize and optimize the learning experience for every student in our district to ensure each achieves their fullest potential, academically and socially. In recent years, staff have placed an increasing emphasis on mental health awareness, providing dedicated time and valuable information for students to better recognize and properly address circumstances such as stress and depression.

I would like to applaud the remarkable efforts of our Education Services team, including teachers, para-educators, school psychologists, nurses, speech pathologists, social workers, occupational therapists, vision and hearing itinerants, and administrators. I cannot overstate how greatly I value your contributions to our students, our schools, and our District.

Please join me in recognizing our Education Services team for their hard work and dedication to support of our students.

Sincerely,

Fred Heid
