School District 300 Foundation for Educational Excellence Hosts Seventh Annual Otto Cultural Arts on the Fox May 12 and 13

The School District 300 Foundation for Educational Excellence will present the seventh annual Cultural Arts on the Fox May 12-13, 2017, offering a treat for the eyes and the appetite.

The event will showcase outstanding student artwork from all 26 District 300 schools, along with bite-size desserts created by the Jacobs High School Culinary Arts Classes, set against stunning views of the Fox River in historic Old Town Carpentersville.

The Cultural Arts on the Fox open house will take place on Friday, May 12, from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 13, from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the former Illinois Iron & Bolt Foundry building along the Fox River at 100 S. Lincoln Ave., which was recently renovated by Otto Engineering. Admission to the event is $1, and all donations will benefit the Carpentersville Boys and Girls Club.

Artwork from the District 300’s 26 schools, including its charter school, will be represented, with more than 1,000 pieces of student artwork on display. College representatives on hand to offer guidance to those planning to pursue art as a career.  In addition, each of the three high schools will receive one scholarship award for a summer experience at the American Academy of Art.  Summer art camp scholarships will also be awarded to some of the younger participating artists.

“This year marks the return of a formal Elementary art component to D300 for the first time in many years, and possibly ever,” said Jake Stouffer, D300 Coordinator of Fine Arts. “The energy that this event has created among our younger artists will only help to bolster our already exceptional Middle and High School art programs.”

The event will also feature bite-sized treats crafted by Jacobs High School’s culinary arts classes, funded by the foundation, known for their decadent desserts.
