School Closed on February 9th

In keeping with our commitment to student and staff safety, District 300 schools will be closed on Friday, February 9th. Our area is projected to receive 6-12 inches of snow. Normally, District 300 would have very little concern and a high level of confidence in our school and village crews to clear the roads. These unsung heroes work tirelessly throughout the night to clear and salt our roads. However, the timing of this storm and projected snowfall amounts are the issue. The storm will begin around 6:00 p.m. and is forecasted to continue though 9:00 a.m. Friday. In this case, even a delayed start would not allow the time needed to ensure that our roads and lots are clear and safe.

District 300 transportation and other transportation services will not be operating. The District 300 Central Office and all school offices will be closed.

All after-school practices, performances, and competitions are also cancelled, with the exception of IHSA regional and sectional competitions. If your student is expected to participate in an IHSA competition, you should have already received a phone call with additional information. If not, please contact your child’s coach as soon as possible.

District 300 acknowledges the inconvenience the decision to close schools may cause and we appreciate your understanding. We hope that providing you with advanced notice allows you the time needed to make arrangements with your employer and/or make child care arrangements.

School is expected to reopen on Monday, February 12th.

You can also stay informed of the latest school closing information by visiting the District 300 website or by checking the District 300 Facebook and Twitter pages.

Sincerely,

Fred Heid
