Road Construction Alert: Route 72 Closed in Gilberts from October 10th to October 17th

IDOT, in conjunction with the Union Pacific Railroad, will begin repairing the deteriorated railroad crossing on IL 72, east of I-90, in Gilberts starting this October.

Route 72 will be fully closed to all traffic at the railroad tracks.  The closure will begin the morning of October 10 and will conclude on October 17 (weather permitting).  All traffic is being detoured to Big Timber Road via Tyrell Road.

Fifty-six bus routes will be impacted by the detour and increased traffic on the limited roads available for east/west traffic.

This transportation impact is not limited to students or schools in Gilberts. It also includes Dundee-Crown High School, Hampshire High School, Jacobs High School, deLacey Family Education Center, Dundee Middle School, Eastview Elementary School, Gilberts Elementary School, Hampshire Elementary School, Hampshire Middle School, Neubert Elementary School, Oak Ridge, Sleepy Hollow Elementary School, Wright Elementary School, Hamilton Academy, New Connections, Summit, and South Campus.

D300 can’t say with any certainty how each of these bus route schedules will be impacted.

D300 is looking at bus schedules to determine if there is any room to adjust pick-up times. Should an adjustment occur, you will be notified prior to October 10.

D300 strongly urge you to download the Durham Bus Tracker app so that you can follow your bus in relation to your child’s bus stop.  The app can be downloaded to any smart phone or tablet at http://m.durhambustracker.com  You will select “Illinois” for the State and “Carpentersville, IL” for the Location; you will then enter your Student ID, Last Name, and First Name.

We appreciate your patience as we all weather through another road construction season.
