High School Summer Reading 2017

In District 300, we believe that students should enjoy reading and have the opportunity to choose a summer reading book that interests them.

That’s why, in the summer of 2017, we are giving you, the student, the ability to select one of 10 exciting books including:

  • All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely
  • Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
  • The Martian by Andy Weir
  • The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
  • Into the Wild by John Krakauer
  • Delirium by Lauren Oliver
  • The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson
  • The Compound by S.A. Bodeen
  • Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom by Lynda Blackmon Lowery
  • Year of Yes: How to Dance it Out, Stand in the Sun, and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rimes

Now, just follow these three steps: Find it! Read it! Love It!

First, Find it in a local book store or check it out from the library

Next, Read it! Spend somea time reading a book that excites you.

And finally Love it!  If you don’t love the book you are reading after a few chapters, try one of the other options!

Students should be prepared to complete a collaborative assignment based on the book they read during the first week of the 2017-18 school year as a part of the Chromebook Drivers Academy.

District 300 is changing summer reading and we hope you love these books as much as we do.
