HHS Baseball Field Maintenance Honored

Hampshire High School has been recognized for devotion to its baseball field with the ABCA/TURFACE Athletics Field Maintenance Award, an annual honor awarded at the American Baseball Coaches Association convention.  This prestigious award is presented to one high school baseball program across the United States as well as to one college recipient. The 2013 Field Maintenance Awards were chosen by a panel of industry professionals and groundskeepers, from Major League Baseball to the National Football League.

The 6-year old field at HHS, commonly known as “The Yard,” is widely regarded as one of the finest playing surfaces in the Midwest.  Maintained by groundskeepers Brad “Bubba” Vosburgh, Jay Rasmussen, and Chris Pulley, the field is in play from March to October each year, which includes the IHSA season and the IHSBCA Summer League season.  In addition, the field hosts Hampshire baseball's annual summer camp and many IHSA Regional Tournaments, and it is a popular location for the annual Chicago Scouts Association’s Silver & Black Series.

HHS Head Baseball Coach John Sarna will accept the award in Dallas in January 2014.
