Hampshire High School to Host Teacher Appreciation Game

Behind a great student/athlete is a great mentor.  On Thursday, May 4th, the Hampshire baseball players will ensure their teachers know what an important role they play.

Teachers change the lives of millions of children every day and their work and impact extends far beyond the boundaries of the classroom.  Join us during our Teacher Appreciation Game to #ThankATeacher for all that they deliver to our children.  Hampshire Baseball has selected their contest vs. Huntley on Thursday the 4th to host their annual Teacher Appreciation Game presented by Buffalo Wild Wings.

"The teacher appreciation game for the Hampshire baseball program hits it out of the park,” claims Music Teacher, Helen Lawrence.  “I love seeing the kids outside of the school day doing what they love.  It is truly an honor to stand next to and support them both on the field and in the classroom!  They can ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ anytime!!”

Buffalo Wild Wings in Algonquin/Crystal Lake has continued their rich tradition of supporting Hampshire High School, by purchasing the baseball bats the student/athletes will present to their teachers before the 4:30 PM game, Thursday,

May 4th.  The contest, held at “the Yard” of Hampshire High School puts the Whip-Purs vs. Huntley High School.  The Hoosier Bat Company will again collaborate with the Hampshire baseball program to provide each teacher with a personalized laser engraved wood bat.

"Someone once told me that feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it,” notes John Sarna, head coach of Hampshire Baseball.  "The Teacher Appreciation Game provides the players with the opportunity to present the gift”.

The District 300 teachers and staff chosen to be honored May 4th include:  Ms. Castellano, Mr. Jakubowski, Mr. Bram, Mr. Braker, Mrs. Lawrence, Mr. Rumoro, Mr. Beringer, Ms. Coleman, Mrs. Goodman, Mr. Smith, Mrs. Hopley, Mr. Samuelson, Mrs. Cherry, Mr. Falk, Mr. Featherly, Mr. O’Brien, Mrs. Lutes, and Mr. Whitehouse.
