Eastview Elementary Hosting an Action for Alzheimer's Open Gym Night Benefitting the Alzheimer's Association

On Friday, January 27, the Eastview Elementary School community will gather for an open gym night filled with games, food and fun to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's disease. The open gym event - which was originally created by the District PE Teacher in honor of her father with Alzheimer’s - allows the Eastview Elementary and Algonquin Middle School communities to join the fight against this devastating disease. Additionally, this event engages a younger population of students, and inspires them to learn about Alzheimer’s disease early on and take action. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter

More than five million people are living with Alzheimer’s in the Unites States, but Alzheimer’s disease impacts more than just the diagnosed individual. An Alzheimer’s diagnosis touches the lives of everyone involved, including children and teenagers. The earlier people are educated about this disease, the better the chance we have at preventing, fighting, and even curing it. The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter’s Team Up Against Alzheimer’s program gives students of all ages the opportunity to promote brain health, spread awareness and raise funds through student-coordinated events and activities.
