D300 University to Host Educational Rights and Responsibilities: Understanding Special Education in Illinois on February 12

D300 University will host a program called: Educational Rights and Responsibilities: Understanding Special Education in Illinois at Westfield Community School on Monday, February 12th at 6:30 p.m.

The program is designed to help parents of children with disabilities learn more information about special education. Topics include: special education referral and evaluation, eligibility, response to intervention, least restrictive environment, secondary transition, IEPs, behavior plans, discipline, and a special emphasis on conflict resolution.

The program will be hosted by Judy Ruffulo, a long-time disabilities advocate. Judy is a sub-contractor for the Illinois State Board of Education in a variety of special education capacities, most recently on the Facilitated IEP Task Force. Judy is also a trained mediator, a surrogate special education parent, and a 15-year board member of the Learning Disabilities of America.

This is a free event and the community is welcome.
