In Case of Severe Weather During the High School Graduation Ceremonies

This Saturday, May 20, is a very exciting day for all of our students, families, and staff. I would like to provide some reminders about the graduation event and outline the procedures should we encounter any severe weather.

At the conclusion of each ceremony, students will be directed to exit from the northwest corner of the Sears Centre while parents and family exit out the main entrances at the same time. Families will reunite with their graduate on Hoffman Blvd.  This process is necessary to allow staff adequate time to reset for the next graduation event.

The current weather forecast shows an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms during the day and 100% in the evening. To ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families I want to be certain to outline the procedures we will follow in case of severe weather. At the conclusion of the ceremony, If it is determined during the exit process that there is severe weather (thunderstorms/lighting) in the area, the Sears Centre will not release students outside for safety reasons. Instead, students will be released onto the concourse from the northwest stairwell to reunite with their families. In the event we have a delayed release, I ask for your patience and understanding that any delays or inconveniences are directly related to our efforts to ensure the safety of our guests and our graduates.

Thank you,

Fred Heid
