Carpentersville Middle School 8th Grade Band to Present ILMEA Preview Concert

Join Carpentersville Middle School on Monday, January 23 at 7:00pm for a celebration of music featuring the CMS Faculty Band, CMS Alumni Band, and CMS 8th Grade Concert Band. Admission is free of charge.

The CMS Faculty Band will include staff from across the district, some with music experience, others enjoying their first time performing in a wind ensemble. The CMS Alumni band will feature former students of the Carpentersville Middle School band program paired with our current 8th Grade Concert Band. Finally, the 8th Grade Concert band will present the three pieces to be performed at the ILMEA All-State Convention, including “The Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini, “Paper Cut” by Alex Shapiro, and a new piece composed by D300 In-Residence Composer Joni Greene titled “The Dawnland.” Following the concert, there will be a short reception for all performers and concert goers.

The performance at the Illinois Music Educators Association All-State Convention is recognition of the hard work students have completed over the past 8 years to remake the CMS Band Program into a positive organization within our school and community.
