Board takes steps to find new home for Oak Ridge

The District 300 School Board has taken a major step forward to finding a new home for the Oak Ridge program that will be a better fit for Oak Ridge students.

At the June 24, 2013, Board meeting, the Board passed a resolution allowing the district to put the school’s current property, located on Lake Marian Road in Carpentersville, on the market.  The district will accept offers through a competitive public bidding process, which will take place next month (July 2013).

The district’s desire to sell the property demonstrates the Board and Administration’s commitment to providing the best possible learning environment for Oak Ridge students.  This highly successful alternative program currently serves more than 70 students from 6th through 12th grades.   However, their school is comprised of mobile trailers which is not an ideal setting for their education.  The district wants to find a permanent building in a different location to house an expanded Oak Ridge program.

Depending on the success of the sale and relocation process, Oak Ridge would have a new home in either summer 2014 or summer 2015.
