News and Announcements

This Saturday, May 20, is a very exciting day for all of our students, families, and staff. I would like to provide some reminders about the graduation event and outline the procedures should we encounter any severe weather.

At the conclusion of each ceremony, students will be directed to exit from the northwest corner of the Sears Centre while parents and family exit out the main entrances at the same time. Families will reunite with their graduate on Hoffman Blvd.  This process is necessary to allow staff adequate time to reset for the next graduation event.

On May 19th, Hampshire High School will play in a “Strike Out Cancer” game at Trout Park in Elgin benefitting the Jason Motte Foundation that raises money for people affected by cancer.

District 300 invites graduates, families, and friends to share graduation moments on social media by using the hashtag #D300GRAD in celebration photos.

On Saturday, May 20, students will graduate from District 300 high schools during commencement ceremonies at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates (for specific information, including ceremony times, click here). District 300 would like to celebrate this achievement with our entire community on social media.

The District was informed today, May 15th, that Jacobs High School has one student with a confirmed case of mumps.

The Kane County Health Department does not consider this an outbreak (an outbreak requires three or more confirmed cases in one facility). However, individuals with compromised immune systems and students who have not received the mumps vaccine and were in direct contact with the student who contracted mumps will be excluded from school for the remainder of the year.

The School District 300 Foundation for Educational Excellence will present the seventh annual Cultural Arts on the Fox May 12-13, 2017, offering a treat for the eyes and the appetite.

The event will showcase outstanding student artwork from all 26 District 300 schools, along with bite-size desserts created by the Jacobs High School Culinary Arts Classes, set against stunning views of the Fox River in historic Old Town Carpentersville.

On Saturday, May 20, District 300 will host three high school graduation ceremonies at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, IL as follows:

  • Dundee-Crown High School at 10am
  • Hampshire High School at 2pm
  • Jacobs High School at 6pm

District 300 has compiled the following list of Frequently Asked Questions for parents and families attending a District 300 graduation ceremony.  Each high school will send additional school specific information in advance of the ceremony.

Dundee-Crown High School students enrolled in the Business INCubator program will compete for an opportunity to launch their respective businesses during Pitch Night on May 4 at 7pm in the Dundee-Crown High School Auditorium (1500 Kings Road, Carpentersville). Pitch Night is open to the public.

Behind a great student/athlete is a great mentor.  On Thursday, May 4th, the Hampshire baseball players will ensure their teachers know what an important role they play.

Congratulations to Carpentersville Middle School's Amy O'Herron who won the Kane County Regional Office of Education's Middle School Teacher of the Year Award!
