News and Announcements

The Community Unit School District 300 Board of Education (Board) and Local Education Association District 300 (LEAD 300) have approved a 3-year contract for the time period from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2015.  The membership of LEAD 300 ratified the contract yesterday (Dec. 19), and the Board voted to approve the contract this evening (Dec. 20).

Will your child enroll in Kindergarten in the 2013-2014 school year?

Are you interested in learning about the District 300 Dual Language program, which is open to English and Spanish speakers?

If you answered "yes" to both questions, please plan to attend one of the two informational sessions taking place at Liberty Elementary School (6500 Miller Road, Carpentersville) in January:

Tyler Cardoza learned about community service early on from his grandmother, who assists the local Boys & Girls Club and donates annually to Toys for Tots.  He eventually got first-hand experience when he began working with Habit for Humanity.  The good feeling that comes from “giving back” continued through his experiences at Oak Ridge School, where service learning is an important part of the curriculum.

“You learn about it from your peers and the adults,” said the Oak Ridge senior. “It’s important not to be selfish, to think of others.”

The stage has been set for District 300’s first district-wide celebration of diversity and culture, with the date and location having been chosen during a recent meeting (Dec. 11) of the event’s steering committee.

Students, families, staff, and community members are asked to mark their calendars for Sunday, October 20, 2013, as the date of the D300 Multicultural Festival which will be held at Spring Hill Mall in West Dundee.

D300 takes the safety of our students, staff, and visitors extremely seriously.  While there is no plan that can totally prevent a random act of senseless violence like this, our district has a school safety plan in place that has been developed in close partnership with law enforcement authorities and regularly practiced by our faculty and staff.  The following are some features of our school safety plan:

SAFETY UPDATE (10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19): Dundee-Crown and District 300 administrators are working closely with Carpentersville police to investigate a report of a situation that occurred last evening outside of the school in which no one was hurt.  Information was communicated via email/phone to parents this morning.  It will be shared with Dundee-Crown students at the end of the school day so that they are not disrupted or distracted while taking their final exams today.  Thank you.

"Parent Portal Resets" requests should be sent to portal@d300.org.

Hundreds of "behind the scenes" photos from the recent D300 graduation ceremonies are available for you to enjoy and share on the CUSD300 Facebook page HERE.  A slideshow set to music featuring a sampling of these photos will also be made available online in the next few days.  Stay safe, and happy summer!
