District 300 high school students are starring in a fun commercial about the new mobile app that's coming soon to D300.  Here is the video:

The district mobile app will synthesize all of the informational resources D300 schools already offer you, and much more, into a one-stop communication shop that you can customize to your personal interests and needs. You're on the go. And soon, so are we!

After an in-depth conversation between Board members and administrative leaders during a public meeting on Monday, July 29, 2013, the Board unanimously approved new long-range strategic goals and objectives for the district.  These goals and objectives were drafted by the independent research firm ECRA Group Inc.

D300 elementary schools are planning to conduct four additional “early release” dates this school year to support school improvement efforts, provide district-wide professional development for faculty, and continue implementing the new Common Core State Standards.  These four dates will be August 30, 2013;  October 31, 2013; February 5, 2014; and April 17, 2014.  Early release days occur on varying days of the week to reduce the impact on teacher planning time and on “specials” programming.

The Board of Education meeting orginally scheduled for Monday, June 22 has been changed to Monday, July 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Westfield Community School, 2100 Sleepy Hollow Road, Algonquin, IL.

For students in grades 6-12 ONLY, walk-in registration is offered on Tuesday, July 16, and Wednesday, July 17.  Hours are 12 to 8 p.m., and doors will be closed 4 to 5:30 p.m.

For registration forms and other details, please visit the D300 Registration webpage.  Parents of students in preschool through 5th grade should contact their child’s school if they have not already registered.

The Board of Education Meeting that was scheduled for Monday, July 22, 2013, has been rescheduled to the following Monday, July 29, 2013.

Beginning this school year (2013-2014), all students in Illinois entering or transferring into 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th,11th, or 12th grades will be required to show proof of receipt of one dose of Tdap vaccine (combined tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis), regardless of how recently they last received a DTaP, DT or Td dose.

The District 300 School Board has taken a major step forward to finding a new home for the Oak Ridge program that will be a better fit for Oak Ridge students.

At the June 24, 2013, Board meeting, the Board passed a resolution allowing the district to put the school’s current property, located on Lake Marian Road in Carpentersville, on the market.  The district will accept offers through a competitive public bidding process, which will take place next month (July 2013).
