1.  School Board members and staff wore pink shirts to honor the district’s Together on Tuesdays breast cancer awareness campaign, which is an early kick-off to the 2014 D300 Relay For Life (April 4-5 at Dundee-Crown High School).  The final two Tuesdays for this all-staff campaign will be Oct. 22 and Oct.

Hampshire High School has been recognized for devotion to its baseball field with the ABCA/TURFACE Athletics Field Maintenance Award, an annual honor awarded at the American Baseball Coaches Association convention.  This prestigious award is presented to one high school baseball program across the United States as well as to one college recipient. The 2013 Field Maintenance Awards were chosen by a panel of industry professionals and groundskeepers, from Major League Baseball to the National Football League.

Two major music events are coming to District 300 this month! At 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, students from Algonquin Middle School and Carpentersville Middle School will join with high school orchestras for the D300 Orchestra Festival.  The concert will be held in the Dundee-Crown High School Auditorium and features guest conductor Ray Ostwald.  Music celebrated at this event comes from the great composers Tchaikovsky, Handel, Vivaldi, and Bach.
