During the summer, D300 schools and offices will be open 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  We are closed on Fridays in the summer.  Regular hours will resume on August 4, and the first day of school is Wednesday, August 13.

Pursuant to requirements of Illinois Complied Statutes Environmental Safety Lawn Care Products Application and Notice Act 415ILCS 65/3, notice is given here by District 300 that the following lawn care product applications have been scheduled as listed below.  For weed control along fence lines, paved areas, foundations, and planting beds, there will be a district-wide application of pre-emergent and post-emergent pesticides.  

At a special Board of Education meeting open to the public on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, the District 300 Board of Education approved the hiring of Mr. Fred Heid as D300 Chief Executive Officer.

1. The Board and audience enjoyed a video slideshow from the recent Dundee-Crown, Jacobs and Hampshire graduation ceremonies.  The graduation slideshow is now available to watch on YouTube. 

The Summer Food Service Program is a USDA-sponsored program offering a free breakfast and a free lunch this summer to community members age 18 years or younger.  The program is being held at seven D300 schools, with some sites beginning service as early as June 2.  Click here to see the program dates, locations, and times.  Click here to see the promotional flier.  

District 300 is excited to launch its first ever Summer Band Program for middle school students, beginning on Monday, June 2.  D300 middle school band directors have spent more than a year planning for this event, which will bring students in grades 6, 7, and 8 together from across the district.  The goal is to continue their instrument study and keep them making music through the summer.

1.  Sleepy Hollow Elementary School students in the chimes program led the Pledge of Allegiance. As introduced by Principal Jason Lentz and Music Teacher Dr. Margaret Brady, they included Sarah Luna, Lydia Curtis, Connor Kaczmarek, Natalia Smiech, Sanjana Bonthu, Drew Benton, Gabby Bianchi, Nick Landry, Olivia Johnson, Jake Zirlin, Justin Jareczek, and Kelly Brannon.

The Community Unit School District 300 Board of Education is pleased to announce that we have selected and retained the next leader for District 300, replacing Superintendent Dr. Michael Bregy who will be leaving to join North Shore School District 112 at the end of this month.

Mr. Fred Heid comes to D300 from Jacksonville, Florida, where he is currently the Chief Academic Officer for the Duval County Public School System, which has a student enrollment of 124,000.

District 300 will reinforce its reputation as trailblazers this Saturday (May 10) by becoming the first school district team in the United States to compete in the famed Tough Mudder.

David Murk, a 5th grade teacher at Hampshire Elementary School, is sailing aboard the research ship Okeanos Explorer on a 16-day mission this month to assist scientists in their mission to explore and map undersea canyons in the Atlantic Ocean. Murk will participate as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Teacher at Sea program, which bridges science and education through real-world research experiences.
