To promote literacy during spring break, District 300 is hosting the #D300Reads campaign, encouraging students to read books between March 27 and March 31.

All District 300 students have the opportunity to win a Barnes and Noble gift card by posting a photo of them reading a book. Photos can be posted to Twitter using #D300Reads or, for those who do not have Twitter, by visiting www.d300.org/D300Reads.

Update: 9:45 a.m. - RCS Message to Parents of students impacted by the Power Outage:

District 300 Parents and Guardians,

Earlier this morning, several District 300 schools experienced a brief power outage. Power has been fully restored to all District 300 schools and all classroom and building operations are continuing as normal.

New - Facility Rental Program Guide. This guide has been made available for community groups and organizations interested in using a D300 Building-Athletic Field to host an event.  Please take a moment to review the information.  Any questions can be directed to the building you are interested in renting or Gayle Seaton at 847-551-8351 or email gayle.seaton@d300.org

District 300 community members can stay informed of the latest Hoffman Estates TIF information by visiting our Hoffman Estates TIF Update Center.

Today, District 300 has posted three documents to the update center, including:

The Illinois State Board of Education has transitioned to the SAT as the state-funded college-entrance test administered to juniors for the 2016-17 school year. Additionally, District 300 promptly adjusted by adopting the SAT Suite of Assessments provided by College Board, which offers practice assessments for students to gain some crucial SAT practice and to monitor progress towards maximizing achievement on the SAT.

District 300 will offer a lottery for a limited number of tuition-based preschool openings available for the 2017-2018 school year.  The limited tuition-based preschool openings are half-day sessions, 5-days a week, and are available at the deLacey Family Education Center, Eastview Elementary School, Gilberts Elementary School,  Lake in the Hills Elementary School, Liberty Elementary School, and Westfield Community School.

In order to be eligible for a tuition-based preschool opening, a child must be 3-years-old before August 17, 2017.

The District 300 Board of Education meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 15 starting at 6:30pm in the D300 Central Office (2550 Harnish Drive, Algonquin).

The Jacobs boys basketball team is in the Elite 8 and one game away from the Final Four at the Peoria Civic Center!

Jacobs will play Fremd High School on Tuesday, March 14 at 7:30pm at the Sears Centre Arena.

Tickets are $11.00 and students and parents can purchase tickets from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Jacobs High School Main Office on Monday (March 13) and Tuesday (March 14). There will be a student section, but it is reserved seating.

Tickets will be available at the Sears Centre door, but may not be in the Eagle section.

Beginning on March 24th: English elementary report cards will only be available on the Parent Portal. Any Spanish, Hindi, Tagalog, Gujarati, Urdu, Polish report cards will be printed from the school office and sent home on March 24th.
