Beginning November 16, District 300 will join the Illinois State Board of Education in the statewide survey of school climate and learning conditions. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey provides a unique opportunity for students, teachers and parents to have a voice in improving their schools.

November 15 marks School Board Member Day and District 300 extends a sincere thank you to Anne Miller, Joe Stevens, Dave Alessio, Kathleen Burley, Stephen Fiorentino, Kym Garcia, and Susie Kopacz for their commitment and their contributions to our district, our schools, our students, and our community.

Congrats to Dundee-Crown’s and Hampshire High School’s cross country athletes for their amazing performances at the state competition.

The Dundee-Crown (Class 3A) performances included:

Anthony Hurgoi, 41st Place, Jr. time: 14:59

Sylvia Waz, 86th place, Jr. time: 18:13

The Hampshire High School (Class 2A) performances Included:

Earlier this afternoon Jacobs High School went to a shelter-in-place due to an inadvertent alarm activation. Due to this shelter-in-place, students were released from class later than their normal bell time.

The District 300 transportation department operates on a tier system. Due to the delay at Jacobs, middle school students attending Westfield or Dundee Middle School may experience a delay in their normal afternoon drop-off time.

The alarm system at Jacobs High School was receiving maintenance this afternoon.

At approximately 2:58pm, the alarm was inadvertently activated and the school moved to a shelter-in-place.

Anytime the alarm is activated, our local law enforcement respond.

When the law enforcement arrived, the school had not yet been aware the alarm was inadvertently activated and law enforcement enacted their response protocol.

District 300 would like to recognize the Hampshire High School volleyball program for raising over $2,000 to support cancer research at the University of Chicago.

District 300 would also like to recognize the Hampshire High School boys soccer and volleyball teams for raising $725 to assist a local family fighting cancer.

Thank you.
