News and Announcements

Dear Parent and/or Guardian,

The information below is intended to provide you with updates regarding the state’s transition to the SAT exam. The response below seeks to address many of the questions that you or your child may have. District 300 staff are also working to:

Marc Tyler Nobleman, author of Boys of Steel: The Creators of Superman and Bill the Wonder Boy: The Secret Co-Creator of Batman, will visit Westfield Community School, Dundee Highlands Elementary, and Carpentersville Middle School on September 14 and September 15.

September 2 is an Early Release Day for all elementary schools and a Late Start Day for all middle schools and high schools.

(Please note: preschool classes are not impacted by early releases and will continue as normal).

The District monitors transportation throughout the first two weeks of school. During this time the District works with Durham, our transportation provider, to take daily head counts of actual riders, track route times, and review concerns regarding stop locations. Based upon our review, Durham staff worked over the weekend to make changes to several routes to help improve overall delivery time.

Please note that routes will not change until Wednesday August 31, 2016.

The District 300 Board of Education Special Meeting, scheduled for August 29, 2016 has been cancelled.

In our continued effort to make technology seamless for your students, District 300 has implemented single sign-on for district-supported software, which requires the Rapid Identity portal.

District 300 will open Kane County’s first school-based food pantry at Carpentersville Middle School on Wednesday, August 31 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:45pm followed by the grand opening at 5pm.

The D300 food pantry is expected to serve 100 families (or 500 people) weekly. Students and families in need will be able to shop every Wednesday, beginning August 31, and bring home enough food to last a week.

Dear Parents,

Knowing that there are often questions regarding the difference between excused absencesunexcused absences, and tardies, I would like to provide you with some clarification regarding District 300’s policies.

The information below outlines the District’s policies regarding attendance. These are applied equally across all school settings. Please know that schools do not have policies that differ from the information below.

Please note, Infinite Campus will be down this evening, August 25, at 8pm for a scheduled update. The downtime is expected to last 15 minutes. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

We are excited to announce several 1:1 Program Family Nights, providing opportunities for parents to learn essential information to support their children with 1:1 Program learning on the Chromebook device checked out to them.

All 1:1 Program Family Night sessions are the same and middle school parents can select any session to attend based on availability and convenience. AMS parents should select from any location to attend as well.
